Korea Gets a MotherLoad of MMORPGs This Year

by Patrick on January 4th, 2007

When it comes to MMORPG, Korea is treated like King by various MMORPG makers. First of all, all the MMORPGs will be translated into Korean. Secondly, MMORPGs makers are careful to fulfil Korean gamers’ needs and not to follow the footsteps of failed MMORPG such as Asheron’s Call.

So, which MMORPG is going to make it BIG in Korea this year? Let’s take a look at the competition…

Hailed as a contender against World of Warcarft, Dungeons and Dragons Online or DDO is going Open Beta on 10th Jan in Korea.

Next, China’s own World of Warcraft, Perfect World (完美世界), will be invading Korea to see if it could gain as much fanfare in Korea as in China.

Not to forget Holland’s The Chronicles of Spellborn, Bill Roper’s Hellgate London and Blizzard’s World of Warcarft: Burning Crusade are also localized in order to join the Korean MMORPG war. However, localization doesn’t mean succes for the respective MMORPG in Korea as Korean gamers are viewed much sophisticated or rather, picky, in their choice MMORPG.

Which MMOPRPG will hit the MotherLoad this year? What do you think?
