My 2 Cents: Gaming Wiiolence
GamePolitics are inviting gamers and non-gamers alike to give their two cents on whether the Nintendo Wii is a violence-breeding machine. And here’s my 2 cents…As a gamer for two decades, I can safely say that violent games don’t make me a violent man now. I love violent, versus fighting video games such as the all blood and gore Mortal Kombat, they even have the Wii version now, but does that make me (or a gamer) crave for blood in reality? Maybe in your gaming or non-gaming life, you can hear some Kombat fanatic screaming “Finish Him!” every now and then, but that’s about it.
And you know boys, no matter how old they are, are always in their fantasy worlds. Monsters, swords, machines, transformers, barbie dolls, you know what I mean. There is always a certain level of violence related to any boy’s fantasy or even any game. Even Sonic jumping on cute little animals-in-machines is quite violent if you ask me.
Even without the Wii, boys can take almost anything, make or turn them into weapons and pretend Naruto or declare war against one another. I agree Manhunt 2 is a tad more graphic but you can’t expect every game for the Wii to use the Wii remote to fry an egg or the Nunchuck to play doll.
So for those people who just dismiss the Wii as a violence-breeding gaming console, they are just plain lazy to even play a game of Cooking Mama, or even bother to switch on the Wiimote.
What’s your 2 cents?

Boys will be boys. Remove the technology, and you’re left with a wooden stick and plenty of imagination.
