When Boys Flirt

by User ImageAmy Tucker on May 2nd, 2008

creek-map.jpgOh the random internet search hits that this one is going to get…

Like the picture to the left?

It’s one of the new maps that came out for Call of Duty 4. They were giving out double points all weekend long so I’m sure that you can guess how we spent our time.

Now that I think about it, I guess it would have been nice of me to let you know about that. Oops.

The new maps kicked ass. Well, the three that we got to play. Killhouse never became an option for us but I know it exists because of a YouTube mash-up that I found. [I’ll post that later.]

Chinatown and Creek are by far the best of the three that we played. Creek is more of a sniper’s wet dream than Chinatown is and Chinatown is pretty good for in-your-face shooting. I wasn’t a fan of Broadcast. Then again, I wasn’t a fan of it in single player. I found it rather humorous that when the map would pop up, people started jumping ship like a bunch of rats.

The whole point of this post was to talk about boys flirting online. And by boys I’m of course talking about my husband and people he “meets” online while playing Call of Duty 4.

When girls play video games online, we tend to sit back and watch what’s going on. We watch who’s leading and who’s sucking and make our “friends” requests based on merit and I personally tend to make requests based on who got my back and decided against blowing my brains out.

Boys, on the other hand, seem to take a completely opposite strategy.

Boys are more inclined to run around a map and kill whatever moves. [Thank God friendly fire is turned off in COD 4.] Then, after several rounds of much mayhem, boys choose friends based on who killed them the most number of times.

After watching numerous boys request friendships with Tucker, [he’s gotten rather good] I was left with the distinct impression that maybe boys pick their friends like dogs pick their pack leaders: I will follow whoever could eat me.

Just a thought.
